Last9 is a commercial observability platform for logs, metrics and traces. It accepts telemetry through OpenTelemetry and Prometheus integrations and brings exploration, dashboards, alerting and service-level objectives into a shared workflow. Its control plane provides a place to route and transform telemetry before storage.
Where it fits
Consider Last9 when the work of managing telemetry pipelines and investigating across separate tools is becoming a problem. A useful evaluation starts with one service and one incident scenario: follow a latency alert to a trace, inspect the relevant logs and identify which telemetry was necessary to explain the failure.
Open standards make integrations possible, but they do not make the Last9 service open source or eliminate migration work. The platform and any public collectors or integration repositories have different licensing boundaries.
What to evaluate
Check the deployment arrangement, data residency, retention and access controls for the proposed service. Use representative label cardinality, ingestion volume and incident queries to assess cost and behaviour. Review what happens when you filter or aggregate data, and whether important debugging evidence is lost. Start with the documentation and confirm the service terms rather than assuming a public integration repository contains the platform itself.
