Field Guide

Complete Guide

agentregistry is a cloud native registry for the building blocks of agentic AI systems: MCP servers, agents, and skills. It gives organizations a curated, single source of truth for which agents and tools are approved for use, and handles discovery and deployment of those artifacts across local development environments and Kubernetes clusters.

The project was created by Solo.io — its third agentic-infrastructure donation after kagent and agentgateway — and donated to the Linux Foundation, with a CNCF Sandbox application submitted in March 2026. It integrates with the projects you’d expect: Kubernetes for deployment, and Prometheus and OpenTelemetry for observability, with agentgateway as the natural enforcement point for what the registry curates.

The problem it addresses is real and growing: as teams accumulate dozens of MCP servers and agents of varying provenance, “which of these are vetted, versioned, and safe to run?” needs an answer that isn’t a wiki page. Whether the ecosystem standardizes on agentregistry or on registry features inside existing artifact stores (Artifact Hub, OCI registries) is the open question.
