About this video
What You'll Learn
- Find and reuse shell commands with the context of where they ran.
- Search, resume, and fork coding-agent sessions across tools and machines with Atuin Threads.
- Let agents retrieve previous investigations through Atuin's MCP server.
- Understand opt-in session capture, encrypted sync, and self-hosting options.
Pick up a Claude Code session in Codex on another machine. Find the command that fixed last month's outage. Give your agent access to an investigation you already did.
Atuin creator Ellie Huxtable joins David Flanagan to explore how Atuin is bringing shell history and coding-agent sessions together. We'll get hands-on with Threads, released in October: searching past sessions, resuming work across machines, and switching between agent tools without manually rebuilding the context.
We'll also look at how Atuin's MCP server makes previous sessions available to your agents, and what stays on your machine versus what gets synced. Session capture is opt-in, and synced Threads use end-to-end encryption.
Along the way, we'll explore the shell-history features that started it all, the recent sync performance improvements, and where the open-source Atuin AI server fits for people who want to run their own terminal assistant.
